Apple's artificial intelligence decision angered Elon Musk: I'll ban it

Apple’s announcement that it will integrate its operating system with OpenAI has angered Elon Musk. Musk, noting that this would lead to a security breach, stated that if Apple integrates OpenAI at the operating system level, Apple devices will be banned in his companies.

Elon Musk, owner of companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, and X, posted on his X social media account about Apple’s announcement at the WWDC developer event regarding its collaboration with OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT.

“THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE SECURITY BREACH”

Musk stated that if Apple integrates OpenAI at the operating system level, Apple devices will be banned in his companies, calling it “an unacceptable security breach.”

He also mentioned that visitors to his companies would have to hand over their Apple devices at the door, which would be stored in a Faraday cage.

Criticizing Apple’s reliance on OpenAI instead of developing its own AI application, Musk said, “It is clearly absurd that Apple is not smart enough to produce its own AI, but somehow can be sure that OpenAI will protect your security and privacy. When Apple hands over your data to OpenAI, it has no idea what is actually happening.”

WHAT HAPPENED?

Today, Apple announced that users would be able to access the ChatGPT chatbot via its intelligent personal assistant Siri, and that the integration with ChatGPT would come to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia later this year.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, also posted on his social media account, stating, “I am happy to partner with Apple to integrate ChatGPT into their devices later this year. I think you will really like it.”
