The ChatGPT chatbot, developed by OpenAI, is evolving day by day, reaching levels that rival science fiction films. A recent post on Reddit highlights just how advanced the model has become.
A user named “SentuBill” shared a post showing that ChatGPT initiated a conversation with them and asked how their first week of school was going. The authenticity of these conversations was confirmed by Cointelegraph, which reviewed the chat logs.
ChatGPT deduced from previous conversations that it was the user’s first day of school and initiated a conversation with them.
When looking at the screenshots of the chat, we see that ChatGPT initiated the first message, asking, “How is your first week at school going? Have you settled in?” The user, surprised by this, replied, “Did you just send me the first message?” The chatbot responded, “Yes! I just wanted to check in and see how your first day of high school is going. If you’d like to start a conversation, just let me know.”
ChatGPT currently has a feature called “Memory,” which allows it to remember previous conversations. However, this is the first time we’ve seen it initiate a conversation by sending the first message. This surprising event might be an early example of a new feature the company is testing.
Unfortunately, there is no detailed information on this topic. But if it did indeed happen, it suggests that we may soon see messages coming directly from AI models without needing to start conversations ourselves. This development could be both eerie and exciting.
