For the first time in history, a humanoid robot has climbed the Great Wall of China

The humanoid robot “XBot-L” from the Chinese company Robot Era attracted attention by climbing the Great Wall of China.

Humanoid robots are robots that possess human-like characteristics and behaviors, often resembling humans in appearance.

These types of robots typically exhibit similarities to humans in terms of form, movement, and sometimes behavior.

Western companies, including Elon Musk’s Tesla, are competing to produce their own humanoid robots. However, as always, China is challenging European companies in this field.

Chinese Robot Climbs the Great Wall

The Chinese humanoid robot manufacturing company Robot Era successfully had its humanoid robot “XBot-L” climb the Great Wall of China. This marks the first time in history that a humanoid robot has climbed the Great Wall.

While XBot-L may not be as fast as the H1 humanoid robot from the Chinese company Unitree or as agile as Boston Dynamics’ Atlas, it demonstrated remarkable ability in navigating the uneven and rough pavement of the Great Wall.

The robot skillfully climbed stairs and even performed “tai-chi” movements upon reaching one of the guard towers.

Robot Era attributes these capabilities to XBot-L’s specialized reinforcement learning (RL) technology, which enables it to manage unpredictable surfaces and effectively explore dimly lit areas.

The World is Talking About This Robot

Robot Era, a company established by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua University in Beijing, showcased its robot to the world through this demonstration.
