Google Brings Gemini Artificial Intelligence Model to Chrome's Address Bar
Google is finally planning to integrate the Gemini artificial intelligence model into Chrome. The model will be accessible through a shortcut directly added to the address bar.
Google has completely shifted its focus to artificial intelligence. The ‘Gemini‘ model, which can perform many functions from answering your questions to generating visuals, is constantly gaining new features and being integrated into services. For example, it recently started replacing Google Assistant on Android.
Previously, accessing Gemini on desktop required visiting the website. However, a feature discovered today suggests that this might soon change. We will soon see Gemini integrated into Chrome.
Gemini will be usable directly from the address bar without the need to visit the site.
Google hadn’t yet integrated Gemini into Chrome. We had seen one of its biggest competitors, Microsoft, bring Copilot to Edge. Opera had brought Aria, and Brave had brought Leo to their browsers. Google, a little late to this game, is soon going to change that.
The feature was first noticed by Windows Report. Looking at the screenshots, we see that we can access Gemini directly from the address bar. The Gemini shortcut works when “@gemini” is typed into the bar. This will enable chatting with the chatbot. Afterwards, the browser will redirect you to the Gemini site, where you can directly see the answer to your question.
The feature to bring the Gemini chatbot to the address bar is currently in the testing phase. It’s unclear when it will be widely available. We’ll inform you when it rolls out to everyone.
