Google is ushering in a new era in artificial intelligence with Gemini AI
Google is making Android devices smarter with its advanced AI feature, Gemini Live. Gemini Live aims to enable more realistic and meaningful communication between AI and humans.
Gemini will now be able to understand not just what is said but also the intentions behind it, allowing it to reason alongside the user. In addition to these advanced AI features, the company also introduced its new Pixel 9 series phones and wearable devices.
The tech giant Google has introduced new AI features and phones coming to Android devices. While Google had already implemented some AI features on Android, this year marks the emergence of new capabilities powered by a more advanced AI language model.
Gemini, which replaces Google Assistant, now boasts enhanced conversational abilities.
Gemini Live Introduces Advanced Conversational Capabilities
Google’s Gemini Live is designed to facilitate more realistic and meaningful communication between AI and humans. With this advanced AI, users will be able to intervene during conversations and engage in in-depth discussions on specific topics. For instance, Gemini Live can provide more natural responses to questions like “How are you?” and can understand intentions from general conversations rather than just following explicit commands.
Google also announced upcoming Calendar support. In one example provided by the company, a user uploads a photo of a concert lineup and asks Gemini if their schedule is free. Gemini then checks Google Calendar, and if there is availability, it suggests setting a reminder to check ticket prices later that night.
The “Add Me” Feature Allows the Photographer to Be in the Photo
Google has leveraged generative AI for photo editing features. The “Add Me” feature allows the person taking a group photo to be included in the shot. The company uses a combination of AR and different machine learning models and asks the photographer to switch places with someone else after taking the first photo. The phone will guide the second person to reframe the shot, and AI models will realign both frames to create a photo where everyone appears in a single shot.
What Are the Features of the New Google Pixel 9 Series Phones?
Google also unveiled its latest Pixel phone series, which includes the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, all featuring Gemini AI capabilities. The Pixel 9 series comes with an improved camera and a display that is 35% brighter for better viewing in direct sunlight, among other new features.
To support AI usage, the phones are equipped with Google’s latest Tensor G4 processor and 16 GB of RAM.
The new Pixel Screenshop feature in Google’s smartphones helps classify, save, or search for and purchase objects in stored images. This feature will be available across all Pixel 9 models.
Alongside the new Pixel 9 series smartphones, Google also introduced new wearable devices, including the Google Pixel Watch 3, a brand-new smartwatch designed to rival the Galaxy Watch 7.
What Are the Features of the Google Pixel Watch 3?
The Google Pixel Watch 3 stands out as the first device in the Android ecosystem to feature a UWB chip, enabling more effective use of Google’s “Find My Device” feature. Another key feature for everyday convenience is its water resistance, so you won’t need to remove it while washing your hands or swimming. The device also supports Bluetooth LE Audio, which extends battery life while delivering better sound quality.
What Are the Features of the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2?
Google has also introduced the eagerly anticipated second-generation Google Pixel Buds Pro. This model, which follows the Pixel Buds Pro released two years ago, is designed to be fully compatible with the new Google Pixel 9 flagship series. The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 is packed with innovative features aimed at providing users with better sound quality and an enhanced user experience.
