Huawei is ready! The release date for HarmonyOS Next has been leaked.

Huawei has started the countdown for HarmonyOS Next, which will replace Android. So, when will the new HarmonyOS version be available? A new leak has shared the first release date information...

Huawei plans to announce HarmonyOS NEXT during the HDC 2024 event scheduled for June. The biggest development in the new version will be its complete independence from Android. As the anticipation continues, the first date information for HarmonyOS NEXT has been shared. Let’s take a closer look at the details…

HarmonyOS Next is coming soon.

For those who missed it, HarmonyOS Next was rumored to be released this fall. The latest leak from tipster Digital Chat Station mentions multiple devices compatible with the new version, including the “Candy Bar flagship” (Mate 70), foldable flagships, mid-range phones, tablets, and watches. These devices are expected to be unveiled in the second half of 2024.

Similarly, the full list of devices that will receive the update has not been shared yet. However, the leak points to September for HarmonyOS Next. Therefore, it is likely to be used first on the Huawei Mate 70 series. For all the details, we will have to wait for the HDC 2024 event from June 21-23.

Returning to HarmonyOS NEXT, it is worth noting that the new version marks a significant milestone for Huawei. Unlike the current HarmonyOS (AOSP), it will be powered by Huawei’s own Hongmeng kernel and system applications. This means it will be completely incompatible with Android applications.

Previously, Huawei announced that over 4,000 native applications have already been developed for the new operating system, with more on the way. Huawei’s official goal is to reach 5,000 native applications by the end of 2024 and, in the long term, to achieve 500,000 native applications.
