Is the Google era ending? A brand new search engine is in the testing phase...

OpenAI, the developer of the AI chatbot ChatGPT, has announced that it is testing “SearchGPT,” a prototype of new search features.

In a statement from OpenAI, it was mentioned that “SearchGPT” is designed to combine the power of AI models with information from the web to provide users with “clear and relevant sources for quick and timely responses.”

The statement also noted that the search engine’s usage would start with a small group of users and publishers to gather feedback.

It was mentioned that this prototype is temporary and that the best features are planned to be integrated directly into ChatGPT in the future.

The statement mentioned that “SearchGPT” will provide users with quick and direct answers to their questions using up-to-date information from the web, offering clear links to relevant sources. Additionally, users will be able to ask follow-up questions as if they were having a conversation.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also shared on his X account, “We believe there is room to make search much better than it is today. We are launching a new prototype called SearchGPT.

We will learn from the prototype, improve it, and then integrate the technology into ChatGPT to make it real-time and maximally useful.”
