Meta has unveiled its new augmented reality glasses: Orion.

Meta, the owner of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, unveiled the first working prototype of its augmented reality (AR) glasses, ‘Orion’, at the annual Connect conference.

The company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, dramatically pulled a pair of black glasses from a metal box on stage, saying, “This is holograms overlaid on the physical world.”

Zuckerberg described Orion as a “time machine,” stating that the glasses offer an exciting preview of the future.

The Orion glasses operate with custom silicon chips developed by Meta, allowing users to interact through hand gestures, voice commands, and a wrist-based neural interface.

Meta aims to make this technology smaller, more stylish, and affordable in the future. However, it’s noted that the product might not be available to consumers until 2027.
