No need to purchase Vision Pro! Meta also introduced that feature.
Meta has made the most popular Travel Mode feature of the $3,500 Vision Pro available for Quest 2 and 3.
Today, Meta introduced the popular Travel Mode feature of Apple Vision Pro for Quest 2 and Quest 3 devices. The new Travel Mode feature allows for an uninterrupted and internet-free virtual reality experience during airplane travel. This means that even on a plane, you won’t have to disconnect from virtual worlds. So, how exactly is this feature used? Let’s take a closer look…
The Travel Mode feature has been released for Meta Quest 2 and 3.
For example, you can use this feature to watch a movie as if you were in a cinema, learn a foreign language, or even explore virtual landscapes to reduce travel stress. To activate this mode, go to the settings menu of your Quest device, enter the experimental features, and enable it from there.
Currently, this mode can only be used on airplanes. Meta plans to make this feature available on other vehicles such as cars and trains in the future. If you have internet access on the plane and the game or application you want to use requires internet, you can connect and continue using it via the in-flight Wi-Fi internet connection.
Meta’s new Travel Mode has become a full alternative to a similar feature found in Apple’s Vision Pro headset. Essentially, the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro offers similar features but is sold at a much higher price. In contrast, Meta has made it a mission to reach a wider audience by offering Quest 2 and 3 devices at more affordable and accessible prices.
With the Travel Mode feature, Meta has made the virtual reality experience during airplane travel even more enjoyable. By including features like this, Meta aims to make Quest 2 and 3 more accessible to all consumers, thereby further spreading virtual reality technology.
