OpenAI Develops Artificial Intelligence Rating System: Where Does ChatGPT Stand?
OpenAI has developed a rating tool to measure the capacity of artificial intelligence. This tool evaluates AI technologies developed by OpenAI on a scale from 1 to 5. The goal is to reach level 5.
A noteworthy move has come from OpenAI, a prominent player in the artificial intelligence world. The company announced the creation of a rating system to measure the performance of developed AIs. Although how it works has not been disclosed, the rating system evaluates AI technologies on a scale from 1 to 5.
According to a statement by an OpenAI spokesperson, the rating system is used to measure how intelligent the AIs developed by OpenAI are. However, the announcement also reveals that even OpenAI is still in the early stages within the AI sector.
What do the levels created by OpenAI mean?
The levels in OpenAI’s rating system are explained as follows:
Level 1: Current chatbots.
Level 2: Chatbots with Ph.D.-level knowledge. (OpenAI claims that ChatGPT has reached this level.)
Level 3: AI models that can act and make decisions on behalf of the user.
Level 4: AI models that can create innovations.
Level 5: An AI that can run all human-created organizations. OpenAI refers to this level as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
OpenAI’s goal is to reach artificial general intelligence. However, this is not an easy task. It is estimated that achieving AGI will still require billions of dollars in computational power. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated in 2023 that they need about 5 years to reach AGI. So, the 2028s could mark the beginning of a new era for our planet.
