Sanctuary AI's next-generation humanoid robot, Phoenix, learns tasks within 24 hours.
"Sanctuary AI doesn't slow down in its work on humanoid robots. The company recently introduced the next-generation Phoenix robot, which can learn tasks in just 24 hours."
In recent months, developments in humanoid robots have been progressing rapidly. Sanctuary AI, perhaps, is showing development at a much faster pace than its competitors. The company recently introduced the latest generation of its humanoid robot Phoenix. The 7th generation Phoenix is equipped with significantly improved software and hardware compared to previous models. This enhancement elevates the robot, already as fast as humans, to a higher level of movement and learning capability.
"It can learn tasks within 24 hours."
The 7th generation Phoenix is powered by an artificial intelligence control system called Carbon at its core. This system makes Phoenix more humanoid. Sanctuary AI also announces that both hardware and AI software have been enhanced. These hardware improvements focus particularly on the wrist, hand, and elbow areas. According to the company, the robot now has much more flexible joints, which increases its mobility.
The company also states that it uses more miniature hydraulic systems to reduce the weight, power consumption, and complexity of the robot. In addition to these, it is emphasized that Phoenix has much-improved visual acuity and tactile perception. With these improvements, according to Sanctuary AI, Phoenix can learn a new task in just 24 hours. In previous generations, this period was measured in weeks.
While the 7th generation Phoenix may not bring radical innovations, it’s worth noting that the previous version was already quite radical on its own. As you may recall, the company shared a video of the previous generation Phoenix moving as fast as humans back in February. Knowing that these capabilities have been improved is quite impressive. What’s even more interesting is that it hasn’t even been a year since the introduction of the 6th generation. This is something that the company’s CEO and Co-Founder Geordie Rose also points out: ‘To see the progress made in just 11 months is incredible. With the 7th generation, we have a system that we believe is the most humanoid among the existing ones.’
