The big news from WWDC 2024: Siri and ChatGPT are joining forces!
Apple announced official ChatGPT integration for Siri at WWDC 2024! Let’s take a look at how it works and its details.
In the final segments of the WWDC 2024 event, Apple dropped the bombshell everyone had been waiting for: the official announcement of Siri-ChatGPT integration. Let’s take a look at how this much-anticipated integration will work.
Siri will answer your questions through ChatGPT-4o!
Apple announced that in order to enhance user experiences, Siri will be integrated with external models, with ChatGPT being the first integration in this process. Powered by GPT-4o technology, this integration allows Siri to direct users’ questions to ChatGPT and generate responses with their permission.
With the new features, users will be able to ask questions about documents, photos, or PDFs and use ChatGPT’s Compose feature to create their writings. Additionally, ChatGPT will be integrated into Apple’s system-wide Writing Tools to help users generate content for anything they write. Users will also be able to create images in a variety of styles to complement their writings using ChatGPT’s image tools.
That’s not all. For example, if you share a photo of your porch with Siri and ask, “What kind of ornamental plants can I put here?” Siri will first ask for your permission to share this information with ChatGPT. Once you approve, Siri will send your question and the visual to GPT-4o.
Siri will then show you the responses generated by ChatGPT. Access to ChatGPT will be free, and users won’t need to create an account. Requests will not be saved. However, ChatGPT subscribers will have access to premium features within these experiences.
These innovations will be introduced alongside iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. Craig Federighi also announced plans for future support of other artificial intelligence models.
