Windows 12 is not coming! Here’s why ?

If you think that the Windows 12 operating system is coming soon, we have bad news for you. There is no new operating system on the horizon. Microsoft is currently focused on improving the existing one rather than releasing a new operating system. So, why is Windows 12 not coming?

Why is Windows 12 not coming? Here is the logical reason:

Firstly, Microsoft currently has to support both Windows 10 and Windows 11. The support period for Windows 10 continues until 2025, which means Microsoft must support two different operating systems simultaneously. If they were to release Windows 12 now, they would have to support three different systems at the same time.

This would create confusion for users and increase Microsoft’s workload. With the new version of Windows 11, 24H2, Microsoft believes it can address this issue by significantly updating the existing version instead of releasing Windows 12. This way, everyone stays on the same system, and things progress more smoothly and efficiently.

As for the second reason, Windows 11 already sparked some debates among users due to its new system requirements. If Windows 12 were to be released with even higher system requirements, more computers would be left unsupported. Imagine opening a brand new computer only to find it doesn’t support Windows 12.

This could lead to significant backlash from users. By adding new features to the existing Windows 11 version, Microsoft aims to avoid such a response. This approach keeps users happy and saves Microsoft from potential headaches.

This brings us to the third reason; typically, a major operating system release comes with new visual identity and user interface changes. However, there is no indication that Microsoft is planning such a significant change at the moment. While the 24H2 update for Windows 11 brings significant innovations and new features, it doesn’t make major changes to the user interface.

Therefore, it seems more sensible to improve the current version rather than release a new one. It’s like saying, “Windows 11 looks pretty good already, why make major changes for no reason?” Of course, Windows 12 will come someday. However, at present, Microsoft doesn’t have enough reason for a new release.

Perhaps Microsoft is waiting to introduce a modular version of Windows. This would be an operating system that can adapt more easily to different devices. Such a project could be an excellent opportunity to introduce a new version of Windows. For now, we’ll have to settle for major updates to Windows 11 instead of Windows 12.

The absence of Windows 12 for now is a strategic decision by Microsoft. This decision is driven by reasons such as avoiding fragmentation of the user base, steering clear of reactions to new system requirements, and maintaining the current visual identity.
