AI assistant Rabbit R1 can be installed on smartphones, company takes a firm stance.
The artificial intelligence mobile assistant, announced under the name Rabbit R1 and attracting significant attention, has begun to slowly reach its first customers. Those who have examined the software, however, encountered something interesting.
One of the most notable products of the CES 2024 fair, held at the beginning of the year, was the productivity-focused artificial intelligence device Rabbit R1. Operating solely through a single screen interaction with the user, yet managing all functions in the background on behalf of the user, Rabbit R1 broke pre-order records.
Is Rabbit R1 a flop?
When Rabbit R1 was announced with a price tag of $199, there were comments suggesting that paying so much for an application was unnecessary. User tests conducted on the device actually point to this.
Some users managed to port the modified Android software of Rabbit R1 to the Pixel 8a smartphone. When the video went viral on the internet, the company had to make a statement. It stated that while Rabbit R1 emulators or modified software may exist in the market, these ports do not have access to the productive artificial intelligence servers.
The original software of Rabbit R1 accesses the company’s cloud-based extensive action model, where the given commands are processed and converted into actions. Additionally, access to third-party applications is not permitted. The company strongly advises against the use of such emulators, stating that they may contain harmful software.
